The Beginning of the End

So this is the very start of my final piece for my exhibition. I have 63 sections like these to complete and to then sew together to create a type of quilt. I won't bore you with them all but here are a selection from the 18 i've done so far. I'll probably make a few changes to them once i've pieced it all together.

Photo Journal

Me and a few friends from Wimbledon have started a new photo journal blog to post regular images we've taken. It's a simple record of each day and was partly inspired by 3191 - miles apart. We started this week so its not yet very development but here it is if your interested:

FMP Samples

Last week I began thinking about what I would display in my exhibition space for my final major project. At the moment I'm considering making an unconventional quilt piece, which consists of rectangular sections (like the ones above) being attached together to form a large wall hanging. Everything involved within the separate sections has been found in the warehouse.
The images above are just mock ups but helped me work out the effect of mounting my collage on canvas material.

Transfers

After photocopying some of the found photographs I transferred them onto fabric using Image Maker. They're now hanging up to dry.

Found photographs

A few of the photos I found in the warehouse. I like the way the sun has bleached where the photo has been exposed, leaving some sections darker than others.

Abandoned warehouse

I'd like to say i found an abandoned warehouse, snuck in and found these things inside but realistically I went through the correct entrance, using a key and with the guidance of my dad who used to own it and use it for his set design studio. I took tonnes of photos which would take me forever to post but heres a selection.
Things I collected include: sun bleached photos, letraset catalogue with un-used sleeves, photo slides, office paperwork, matches, postcards, business cards, set design drawings and tracings.
